When their downstream partner scheduled an annual revision, Horisont Miljøpark faced a familiar problem: thousands of tonnes of incoming waste, nowhere to send it, and a plant partly offline. Renting the Orkel Hi-X Evo gave them exactly what they needed.

The Challenge
Horisont Miljøpark handles household and commercial waste for several municipalities in the Gjøvik and Land region of Norway. With Eidsiva’s revision temporarily halting downstream energy production, 3,000 tonnes of waste needed to be stored safely on-site — while parts of their own plant were offline.
Round baling was the answer. They chose to rent the Orkel Hi-X evo.

Key results at a glance
- 3,000 tonnes baled and stored
- Only 2 operators needed for full operation
- Shorter shifts, less overtime
- Full material traceability via Orkel Telematics
Easy to Learn. Easy to Run.
Both younger operators and veterans were up and running quickly.
“It was easy to drive, easy to understand, and fast to work with.” — Sigbjørn, operator at Horisont

The touchscreen interface and the option to switch between automatic and manual mode made it straightforward to handle varying material types — from household residual waste to pre-shredded commercial fractions and agricultural plastics.
The support didn’t stop at delivery either. When Horisont flagged an area for improvement mid-project, Orkel responded quickly and implemented the fix. That kind of responsiveness makes a real difference when the pressure is on.
Better Results Than Expected
The team expected decent density. What they got was better.

Bales came out heavier than anticipated — solid, well-shaped, and stable enough to stack in large outdoor storage piles without material escaping, even if outer film was damaged.
